I finally had a chance to fly this weekend. Not much but at least I was in the air. I found this about four miles north of me,maybe a stoner from the late 60s or early 70s put it there
The lake in the background is Lizard lake, a dying lake and one I've landed on in the winter when it was frozen.
Years ago we were coming home from a flight breakfast in Northeast Iowa in a 172 and found a Mickey Mouse head planted in a field. I know I have a picture somewhere. I'm sure some of the rest of you have come upon some interesting things when flying, share them if you can.

a mile of road will take you a mile, a mile of runway can take you anywhere.

Here are some more photos of crop art:
Calendo--a doctor's house & private strip between Wichita and Augusta, Kansas
Swirls--south of Topeka, Kansas. Nearby is another one with Cloud 9 mowed in the grass adjacent to a private runway
Apple tree--saw this on my return trip from Oshkosh in '09, I think it was in Wisconsin
Always carry a camera!

I haven't landed in grass that tall yet but if I do you are likely to see something like it in Sumner County and plane will most likely still be there too.

We have a nudist colony near here but out of respect for their chosen lifestyle I haven't snapped any photos.
(OK, I simply forgot to bring a camera.)
A funny sight I often see when over-flying the resort is them out playing volleyball. Watching a little white ball bouncing back and forth amongst all those beet red, sunburned bodies is quite something.
I've often amused myself by thinking someday, on the underside of my Airbike wings I'd write "Fly Naked" and then fly low and slow over the resort.
They actually enjoy the novelty of recreational flying and have stopped by (with clothes on) at the airfield and invited the owner and his wife over for a tour.

http://www.bluelakeresort.org/location.htmThe airfield, Erie Airpark is just North of the town of Erie, Illinois and is located on the East side of Co. Hwy 13 and South of Star Road. Blue Lake Resort is approx 3.5 miles SSE of the field.

I did have to check out the website. I like the rule that says absolutely no fireworks of any kind not even sparklers. LOL

Haven't seen crop circles etc here in Oz, but one farmer spelt his message out in a more permanent way.
