This saturday the annual fly-in at Skogn Airfield here in Norway took place. I had the pleasure to get a ride in an gyrocopter. Amazing trip. A collections of videoclips here:

Knut, there just is nothing like a bunch of pilots getting together and enjoying flying. The scenery is beautiful, I like the way the earth bulges up to make those bumpy things in the distance. Flying in early evening is premium, looks as though only a slight wind for your enjoyable flying. Would a gyrocopter or helicopter make that whump whump noise if it were hovering instead of moving forward?
Thanks for positing, you live in a beautiful area!

Knut:
Nice gathering. So how does it feel to fly the gyro?
Knut ASeptember 8, 2010, 12:01am
Paul...yes the gyrocopter makes that "whump whump noise" also when hovering. Maybe more than flying straight forward. From the ground I'm sure it will be significant louder.
Ricardo..... I was only a passenger on this trip, but my impression is that flying a copter is much like flying a trike. Except you can't hover a trike. But you will treat the rotordisc like a trike wing. But for me the most important thing was to get the feeling of flying an open aircraft. It was a new feeling, specially in a bank when I saw nothing than air between me and the ground. I will certenly need this experience when I get the AirBike airborne.
My Airbike has been ready for technical inspection and a testflight for weeks now. But I got a virus on my balance nerve in my inner ear and the medic said "No flying for you for a while..." I'm okey again now, but the days are now shorter here in the north, so I desired to wait untill spring for the maiden flight.
Remember I lives at 63"30'N. That's similar to Anchorage in Alaska or Nuuk on Greenland. At the southern hemisphere it will be like Brainsfield Island in the Antarktis south of South Amerika. But as you know, we have the Golf stream that makes it to a good place (read the best place) to live. (Not many Huns to fight against)
It will cost me some money to get it sertified and insured and maybe I will get only a couple of hours this autumn. No, I'll better wait till april/may next year.
