Two Items Item #1:
Several weeks ago I wrote a brief story about the Huns creating smoke during their incendiary attacks on the Kansas prairie. Since then the grass is recovering and the winter wheat planted last fall is showing its beautiful emergent colors: chartreuse green. Note the photos below. Good flying conditions and clear air are on their way to Kansas! I wanted to share the beauty of our landscape with those of you don't see this stuff in your windscreen.
Item #2:
Those of you who are also Experimental Aircraft Association members are aware of the Young Eagles program. For those of you unfamiliar, it is an effort to expose youth ages 8-18 to aviation. Our EAA chapter 88 of Wichita, Kansas just completed an Aviation Day with a local elementary school. The four hour event included hands-on booth displays involving navigation charts, weather, ground school, building gliders and parachutes, making wing ribs, manipulating an airplane's controls (my AirBike) and a 20 minute flight in a chapter member's plane. Click this link on Brian FitzGerald's Skysurfing blog to see the activity.
The future pilot sitting in my AirBike was having the time of her life! Can you imagine what she dreamt about that night?

PS There is nothing wrong with the girl's eye, just pixel distortion on the Skysurfing site.
