I just thought I would share this great photograph that my friend took of me flying my Minimax 1600R over the Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire Fens here in the UK. The coastline in the back ground is The Wash. Happy days, when the weather is fine

Paul,
Looks like a nice place to fly. Any chance you can make the picture bigger?

Hi Paul;
Great picture of you and your plane. If I am not mistaken, this is the first picture of a Max over England. Need more, LOL.
Bob
Fly safe and have fun.

Hi Arthur,
Your'e right, she does have a registration G-BYYX; all aircraft in the UK have to be registered with the CAA (with the exception of self launched aircraft, hang gliders etc). During the build process of a Minimax or any home build aircraft in the UK everything is overseen by the LAA (Light Aircraft Asscoiation). Upon completion the aircraft then has to undergo several hours of flight test before it is given a permit to fly. After the initial permit is issued once a year thereafter the aircraft is inspected / test flown by a LAA inspector before another permit can be issued.
The permit process is to ensure that you have maintained the airframe and the engine in line with the schedules laid down for both.
I hope to up load some more photo's. I have a few films on YouTube of me taking off and landing the Max form my field in the Fens. If you search for "Team Minimax 91 Tacking off from Fenland" you should be able to view them.
All the best

Good looking plane!! looks like a 1650R Eros, you cant see the engine so the mount has been lowered. 447 or 503 engine??

Hi,
She's a 1600R with Eros cowlings. The engine is a Rotax 447 with the John Hammer modification. The engine mount is lowered, however in order to keep the same thrust line the gearbox is inverted; this gives the aircraft nice clean lines; in my opinion.
All the best

Nice photo Paul, what airfield do you fly from, I fly from Little Gransden. I first flew my Minimax from there in 1991. Sadly I sold her many years ago, and now regret it.

Hi John,
I'm not very far from you; I fly from Fenland which I'm sure you must have visited in the past.
Its a shame you do not have your Minimax anymore as it would be good to meet some owners local to myself.
All the best

Paul-
Is "the John Hammer mod" public information? I'm sure others including myself would like to know how to rework the engine mounting shelf on our 1600R's to get that Eros look. Nice job.
