This will be my second flight from san angelo to eldorado for a fly-in. it's approx. 45 mi by air on 5 gal of fuel so i have to be aware of the wind speed and direction while always watching for emergency landing spots. i have a fuel flow meter and gps for ground speed so approx halfway i can decide if i will have enough fuel and can turn back if needed. my rotax 277 burns 2 gal/hr. so if i am able to maintain 30+ mph ground, i will be fine. winds saturday forcasted for a 15 mph headwind going so return will be no problem.
