For what it's worth: The secret to the check ride it to REMAIN CALM. If your CFI is confident enough to allow you to take the check ride then you are ready (whether you think so or not). His (or her) reputation is riding on his(or her) students doing well. I was scared to death and imagined all kind of frightful scenarios during the check. Most never happened. While I was going through the things I was told to do the gentleman conducting the check was listening to a college football game on my radios. I don't know whether he was that big of a fan or if it was a ploy to help keep me calm. The worst thing he did was making me put the hood on and he twisted the 150 around and made me get it out of the mess he created, using instruments only. A piece of cake, because my CFI had me well prepared. So the point of all this is: remain calm, do what you were trained to do and ENJOY the experience. GOOD LUCK......

damn coop, the huns mus be quite active sabatoging here in our area because i was supposed to get a flight review with another instuctor before my check ride and after some ground work we preflighted the plane, called Flight service, pulled out the plane got all strapped in and ready to go only to have the starter on our cherokee 140 be DOA. so called the maint officer for the club and mechanic will be out tomorrow to determine what all it needs and how soon we can get it back up. but the huns must have fled the area after their sabatoge mission because i went and pulled out the Eros and went on a search and destroy mission with it only to find no sight of them in the area so i made my first 2 smoking flybys of the year followed up with a couple practice landings to include my first ever wheel landing. when this weather breaks it will definately be open season on the huns with no bag limit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
