Well it was a minor adventure. A buddy in his Pietenpol and I in my Kitfox III flew from the Austin area to Ft. Parker to a T-Craft fly-in. We made a pitstop in route @ Marlin T15 to check the drainage.
My buddy left from his field South of Austin and had an extra pit stop because he has a small fuel tank. We actually flew to Mexia next so he could be full fuel for the trip home. The fly-in was about 4 miles S of Mexia (LXY). We were the first to arrive and were impressed by the friendly welcome.
By the time we had to head out, there were about 4 other planes. All classics. I received a copy of the final sign in sheet and I think I counted 16 planes. At least half wee T Crafts.
There was a group of guys having a Western shootout at Ft Parker while the fly in was going on. A local restaurant was serving great BBQ sandwiches.
We had such a good tailwind going there that I arrived before I left home. That's a Texas tail wind.
Honest, would I lie to you?

Always good to see the name of one of our members on other webpages and I have a soft spot in my head for you Duct Tape, having lived through the Repairmans Cert class with you in Waco, so was glad to see you out and about. Now if you were Paul he would have taken that short story of yours and made it into a novel. I even think I saw your Kitfox in one of the pictures taken at the fly in. I gave a bunch of thought to flying my Tcraft down to that party but bad weather here took the choice away from me.

What site did you see my plane? Paul is a wonderful story teller. If he was a Texan he could spin BS like me. But it would ruin his great style. When I tell a story people get a bad opinion of my flying skills because of the generously sprinkled manure. By the way the amount of Duck tape on my plane has decreased considerably because a bunch blew off in the storm at Sun N Fun last year. Duck tape probably saved my plane. The tape acted like ballast.
