Buzzards, might you be willing to contribute a post to this thread that indicates?:

(1) when you first flew a max...
(2) how many hours you have flying a max...
(3) your favorite max flight...

I will start:

I have not flown a max
I have zero hours flying a max
My favorite max flight will be my next one!

Why focus on proving how great you are, when you could focus on becoming better?...

first flew a max last summer and it was the maiden flight of my max

i have about 40 hours in my max

i have had a lot of memorable flights but the one that will stick with me forever was when i was asked to put on a show overhead of a relay for life event in memory of my aunt and cousin that had both lost their battles with breast cancer. the skies were blue, the air was calm, hundreds of people below me cheering and me making the relay ribbon in smoke over thier heads. was told later that when i did that there was not a dry eye in the place.
Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return

first flew a max 2009
Have 135 hours in a max's
My most favorable flight was the test flight. the evening after completing it. Hauled it over to a near by airport, Family and friends showed up to help and watch. The Thrill and pride that came from Building and flying was overwhelming to say the least.

First time I flew a Max was 2009

I have close to 254 hours in a Max

I have had many great flights to see people and just get good air but probably the very first flight.  I had 3 hours of training in a Rans S12 and on Nov 5th I went out early in the morning.. fired up the Max and flew for about 15 minutes and came back and landed.  It was a great landing as the plane was reusable...lol   I had hundreds of hours flying RC planes and a few hours over the years in GA planes the Max was very forgiving.  I have the reaction to the first flight as Paul showed up as I was landing

Wow. These first few posts are doing for me exactly what I hoped... reminding me of the hundreds of hours of successful flight, and of the incredible joy that these aircraft provide members of this board... Thank you gentlemen!

Little over 10 hours and most memorable, the maiden flight by far.

In spirit of full disclosure, I should probably revise my flight time estimate... I probably have 10 hours of hangar flying in my various max projects...

AvengerSeptember 21, 2012, 9:17pm
I had a few hangar hours I could have added as well... they are safe.. fun... and the landings are perfect... I have a few in the Tcraft as well....lol   What is funny is when you are in your plane hangar flying with the doors or the canopy closed... people come in and don't know you are there and as they walk by the plane.... open the doors and yellllll I am landing watch outttttttttt.... super fun to watch

If you've never seen Avenger's ugly mug, you don't realize the extent of the fear...

Hi Bill!

First flight in my miniMAX was Dec. something of 1989 after a first snow.....using the grass strip was out so I had to use the paved runway.Takeoff and flight were great...landing not so hot....ended up turned sideways and exited runway through two and a half feet of hard snow...ended up on the nose. damaged the motor mount board and my pride. It was good to know the seatbelt harness worked great. Luckily I did it at the far end of a 3000' runway, so no one knew what happened until I had the plane pulled two thirds of the way back to the hanger. Waited for spring to fly again and honed my skills off grass.Brought the plane home to the farm in the summer of 1990 where it has been ever since. My brother flew it some before he built his own so I probably have around 500 hrs total in three different MAXs.
I have to many memerable flights to mention, but I thing is for sure...I wouldn't give up the experience of having part in building and then flying my own airplane. Even with the 277 the miniMAX is a total blast to fly..

Very happy minimAXbuilder/owner/pilot...Larry
a mile of road will take you a mile, a mile of runway can take you anywhere.

Flew my Airbike first in April 1998 and put about 250 hours on it over the next few years.  Flying it to Oshkosh that summer was very memorable. Also, flying bikini patrols at the local lakes was sort of fun.

Come on by and haunt me again, I ain't skeerd!   Actually, I have enough runway here now for that T-craft, and I'd like to check it out if you ever get in the neighborhood.

do you have numbers for your place or something close by I could use as a reference point so I could plan the flight....Might have time next month.

I have seen Avenger's ugly mug many times, fortunately only during daylight and in our hangar.  Be warned, he does not have the kind of face you want to meet in a dark alley after bar closing time. He has one of those faces that is good in entertainment circles, like on the radio.  It is probably a good idea to stay up wind of him too.

However, he is a good  man to have on our side, he scares the hell out of the Huns!  He is also good at knocking down hangars with his MiniMax wing.  His early landings could have won him boo-ku amount of money if the videos of them had been sent into America's Funniest (scariest) Videos.

Those are all the good things I can think to say about him now.

I first flew a Max in 1995 it was a 1300Z

I built my Hi max in 1996 and flew it as an ultralite for a while..

N1208W was licensed in late 1996 and flew it's first legal flight on 1/1/1997 and has flown over 1300 hours since..

I have about 1400 hours total max time and over 2200 overall..

My Himax maiden flight was not uneventful, after going up and doing some stalls and slow flying and  I made my first landing my left main tire was flat and I went off the runway and mowed some hay that was over waist high.. It almost nosed over after going down a little bank but I finally got the tail down and stopped.. After my heartrate slowed a bit I got out and saw the tire almost off the rim, that made me feel a lot better because I first thought that it was because of a lack of skill on my part..

Hey Scoop!!  You fly out of Big Bear??  What engine are you using??  I used to fly to Big Bear for lunch from Twentynine Palms on a regular basis but I was in my 150 hp TriPacer!! Maybe you could do a (long) x-country and fly down to Hemet some day??

Update- I now have 20 minutes of max PIC time... (I think I did have a passenger of sorts)... My first max flight was October 22, 2012. My most memorable flight was my first off field landing... Or was it my maiden flight?... Or maybe it was the time I got lost,... Or the time it felt like I was riding a bucking bronco....it is so hard to choose... NOT!!!,,, it's easy given those were all the same flight!...
