Buzzards... this new gig has been kicking my butt!... scrimping on sleep, never mind aviation... but I digress... I do miss interacting with you all here on the board... Was browsing through aviation pics on my computer, and when I saw this one I couldn't help but think of two things: (1) what a neat looking plane - I want one of those, and (2), what a neat looking place to fly/land a plane - I'd like to try that some day...
That's all for now...

... what I can't figure out though... is why or how this unidentified buzzard got his beauty way the hec out in the middle of the cornfield just to snap a pic or two?... I guess some folks will go to great lengths to get just the right shot... dang artists...

Now that is what looks the biggest emergency landing field I have ever seen.

Seems like I remember some guy landing in a field in a Max he was going to buy from a fellow buzzard during a trip from NH. His name is right on the tip of my tongue but my memory is foggy.......I remember something about getting lost and couldn't find the field he took off from...... lol
Hey Tony, welcome back into the fray. We missed your wit and input on the forum. Sorry that job "you always wanted" is giving you such a hard time.
Gary

I hate to be picky here, but that looks more like a wheat field than a corn field.....Just saying.....
a mile of road will take you a mile, a mile of runway can take you anywhere.

Looks like a picture of someone out standing in their field

hey Tony, i have had 4 forced landings in a field like that when tuning my engine. they make fantastic emergency landing strips.

Hey that plane looks a lot like one I watched a dude disappear in last year!

yea, that's what I was thinking at about 1000' above - even I ought to be able to hit that one

no worries Gary - I still think the job is going to work out well... just a lot to get caught up on jumping in to during middle of the academic year... no complaints... well, not too many ...

#2 forced landing was in a stripped cotton field. the stalks slowed my runout but made it difficult to pull my plane to a road. changed my carb boot, took off, and went back to the hanger.
GarykMarch 9, 2013, 2:31am
Well I'll be doggoned, I've been doing things all wrong. I thought you were supposed to land on those narrow things with the stripe down the middle. lol
Tony-----I know you will get a handle on that new gig, after all Max flyers are masters at overcoming adversity................I have trouble just figuring my taxes, let alone that higher education stuff. Probably just need a few open cockpit flights to clear your head. lol

All I can say is that once I knew I had to put it down I was glad I was in Oklahoma... Had I been in New England the stress would have been multiplied considerably while searching/deciding if a soft landing in the tree branches was a good option...
