Saturday Fly-in for all you Kansas Flyers close enough to make it to Douglass, Ks. One of my fathers last squadron members from Korea is coming back up to visit and dad felt like there should be some planes flying or it would be a boring day. If you have never been to Alley Field it is located on the Wichita Sectional as K60 and the field is just east of Douglass & HiWay 77 and below the water tower sitting at the top of the hill.
If you fly in you can view his own personal Hanger Museum and around noon he will fire up the grill for some tasty hot dogs. There will be plenty flying stories told and where else could you visit with two 90 year old Marine Dive Bomber pilots at the same time.
Hoping for good weather and a few planes making it down to Douglass.

If the breeze is out of the south just drag it in at about 55, line up on the carpet with an arrow at the top of the north end and chop the power as you get even with the hanger. (keep your eyes open Bill) I usually turn around before I get down to my fathers house in the Champ.
Hope to see you there.

This will be another opportunity for us "baby boomers" to pay homage to WWII and Korean vetran pilots to whom we are so very tankful. Gatherings at Alley Field have always been enjoyable for the Alley family and all the participants. I plan to attend Terry, I think many others will too.
See you there!

Look forward to seeing you there Paul. Hopefully we have good weather and calm winds so "Avenger" can get the T-Craft in there. I hadn't flown since the Augusta Fly in so I went out tonight to sharpen the skills before saturday. I will attach a couple of shots of Alley Field from the air for anyone who has not been there to use as a reference. Just look for the water tower at the east edge of Douglass.

If I get there early enough maybe there won't be any wind at all..... what time does this deal start?

What a great flyin this was... I got up early to avoid winds and when I got there decided to land uphill in order to slow down easier.. however the 5 mph tailwind I had turned into a 20 mph tailwind and I used all but the last 3 ft of the runway to get stopped. A few plane were in attendance and I am sure paul will make a grand story of it all but I will say to my surprise as Paul landed and taxied up to his tie down spot his wing passed through a cider tree which I thought was funny as I had never seen him hit a tree before.... wellllllllll a few minutes after he hit the tree..... sure enough... .a Hun fell out...Man he is good. Great time... great stories... great food, great day. We released the Hun after the party was over in a grand gesture of good will....and the promise of some good german Vodka. I will say this... if you miss a concrete fountain by 3 ft.... it is still a miss.
