This pic I took the other day is of the Kerr-McGee nuclear facility that made news around the world in 1974. It is where Karen Silkwood worked. I had no idea that I live only 5 miles from such a landmark. Heck, I thought it was 1,000 miles away. After a little bit of researching the story, I also discovered that her boyfriend at that time was a customer of mine. Sometimes you just don't know what you don't know!

Better not fly too close to those places of the "spooks" will be visiting.

yeah they chased down a glider pilot recently who they claimed "loitered: too long.....
You don't need to know anything about flying inorder to pilot a plane. You do need to know something about flying fly inorder to pilot a plane twice!

Hey Puff, If you want to try outrunning an F-16 in your Max fly over the Savannah River Plant in South Carolina. They will oblige. They make the nasty weapons there.

Where was this located?
Puff, if you google map Crescent Oklahoma and look south of town just south of the river on the east side of the highway you'll see it. If you slide the date bar you can see there has been a lot of it removed.

Sorry Andy, I should have said Google Earth. It has an icon you can click on at the top of the screen that opens up a bar you can slide to change the date of the view you're looking at. Go check it out, it's pretty cool.

Ken, are you from Crescent? My first wife was from there....that's where we got married.

No Charlie, I'm south of the river near Cashion. (85OK) Stop in sometime if you're ever flying out this way.
What a small world though. Heck, once when I was flying my Minimax, a guy pulled up my driveway after I landed because he recognized my plane as a Minimax. Turns out it was a fellow Buzzard from out of state visiting his daughter that lives close by. It was Ron Franck (sp?). Real nice guy.
