Sunset Flight (Feb. 2014)

While Andy was working on the various mods for his AirBike, I went flying for an hour.  We had a brief break in the weather with lowered winds that just begged to be flown in.  Although I hadn't planned to fly that Saturday, one call to the Mid-Continent Airport ASOS was the trigger to change my mind.

Below are a couple of photos of that flight; all of our snow has melted and the runoff is finding its way into the Arkansas River.  Some wheat fields are beginning to display green new-growth stubble. It won't be long and the ground cover will become attractive again.

One advantage of the low wind is that I can find my way back to the Selby Aerodrome by following the smoke trail I lay down on the outbound trip!  Sunsets from 1000' AGL are always nice even if on this flight there were no clouds to catch the reflected light, only a huge fireball settling over the horizon.

Hey Hey Hey Knut;
Great to hear from you. You still doing well at your new home? Believe it or not I had been thinking about you and your 1/2 VW powered MiniMax. Will never forget when you lost one of your exhaust pipes and the next day found the barn roof that it put a hole in, LOL. Well, come on now, fill us in on what you have been doing.
Bob
Fly safe and have fun.

Yes Knut, nice to hear from you!  Glad you still read this Board.

Fighting Huns, not on this flight, however I am combining this flight with Andy and another with Wayne and making it into a Hun defense story.  It will be sent to the Pacific Flyer Magazine in Australia soon. They have been receptive to my contributions in the past so I hope this one will get published too
