I had the chance to visit tjspindler in northern Minnesota this week. I am building the same model minimax he has so it was great to see a finished version in person. If you are building a minimax, I highly recommend seeing a finished minimax in person. Here is a picture of Tom and I after a flawless demonstration flight.

I had a great time showing Tyler my plane and talking with him about his project. A very nice young man that has the same passion about a little wooden plane as all of us old farts do! I know most of us here are more than willing to take the time to help you out to make your project a great sucess! Remember there are no stupid questions but I can't say that about the answers!! Just kidding!
I hope we get to see more young builders and fliers here.

It has always been a good experience when I visit board members during my travels. Nice that you two were able to get together. You can learn a lot by looking.

Hi there. Are you guys from mn? I'm new to the forum and just ordered the 1500R. I live in men and it would be great to get together with others who have done this. Thanks

Goldy, is that reference to your living in "men" mean Menomine, Michigan, eh?

Where in Minnesota? Good to hear there are other people in Minnesota that have a minimax.

By Cambridge MN. Just north of Minneapolis.

I am from across the state by Dawson MN. I hardly ever go to the Twin Cities area. Let us know when you get your kit or start building.

Sounds good. My plan is to start building in two weeks and be finished by spring. Its an ambicious plan, but I sold my paramotor to do this project and its killing me having nothing to fly right now. I'd love to hear how your build goes too

This is my build thread: http://www.lonesomebuzzards.com/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.pl/Blah.pl?m-1266775998/
As you can see, the thread was abandoned for a while. I can only work on it during the weekends so it is a slow build.
That does sound like an ambitious plan. Do you already have an engine picked out?

I'm planning on the 1/2 vw. People seem to feel its reliable. I've had nothing but problems with Hirth when I had the f33 on my paramoror. Thing will vibrate your fillings outta your mouth! I'm fortunate to have a career where I work ten days a month, so building will be my other job.

TJ...Is there something about the thread you linked a couple posts back that I just don't understand? Up to post # 18 or 19 the dates that show are from 2010 and then it jumps to 2014. Also, the 1st post is by thunder669, so I was wondering if you maybe bought a plane that was partially built and just adopted the thread? Certainly no big deal, but was wondering what was happening there.
Sorry to have maybe hijacked this thread a little, so I'll now return you to your regularly scheduled thread

I think my first post on that thread got deleted? and then I had a break. I think this thread went in a different direction anyways.
