Just finished reading "the Wright brothers" For an aviator and builder this is a "Masterpiece"
I couldn't stop reading it! the author is two time Pulitzer winner.
Other books are are waiting on line. The Yakovlev book "The meaning of my life" is extremely interesting although I have to swallow some political comments which I disagree the most.

I forgot to mention an extraordinary documentary made by famous german director Werner Herzog "Little Dieter wants to fly"
Don't miss that movie!

What's the story on the book that's behind the other three..."Aircraft Inspection and Repair"? It looks like a under-construction MiniMAX sitting on a workbench on the cover!

Those are copies from FAA that I made a book out of them.
I have a small bookbinding shop at the farm. The picture is my plane under construction.

McCullough's book is very good. It contains some details of which I was unaware but Tom Crouch's "The Bishop's Boys" remains the best.

a mile of road will take you a mile, a mile of runway can take you anywhere.

Larry:
"Stick and Rudder" is some sort of "Bible" to me, and probably the best book a fresh sports pilot can have.
I've learned (and keep learning) so much from it and put in practice several techniques, I considered it as my permanent flight instructor.
Always read the book at different chapters to refresh many concepts.

I'm 2/3 through it as well. Picked it up a few months back on a commercial flight; Haven't been back at it for a couple months; but still on my bed stand. Its a good read.
Why focus on proving how great you are, when you could focus on becoming better?...

"Bible" is a good label for the book Stick and Rudder,it to me has the best explanations for flight controls of any thing I have read! A book about an aviators life that I really enjoyed in my youth
is called " Fate is the Hunter" by Ernest K. Gann. regards Cliffm
