Wow Greg! A beautiful field and a great looking Mini. You got it made.
Greg DoeAugust 15, 2018, 2:33am
Thanks Dick.My Max is really a 50 footer. It's no beauty, but passes in a video. There are repairs, and patches, peeling paint, and two-tone repairs. I'm very fortunate to be able to fly out of a private strip 8 miles from my home. I can't put it inside, so I have a 19X29 ft. tarp that I cover it up when it might rain. It's got a 277 Rotax, and is Part 103 legal. I just got back in the air after burning the engine down back in May. I had the cylinder bored to the first over size, and have flown over 18 hours in the last 3 weeks. At 73, I consider myself very lucky to still be flying.
Today I made my first ultralight landing on pavement. It was especially interesting since my airplane doesn't have breaks! At one point I dropped the right wheel off into the grass while taxing, to slow it down. Credits for the video goes to my two granddaughters. The 17 year old videoed, and her 20 year old sister did the editing.

The last time I saw Skip fly, it was at a cookout on that field a few (4 or 5 maybe) years ago.

Puff, I flew over Skip's place last week, but didn't land. I'll probably see him at out meeting tomorrow evening.

Great landing, Greg!
It's a lot more exciting on pavement, isn't it?

Great looking field. Unfortunately Video wont play for some reason. Anything special needed to play these GoPro based vids?
Greg DoeAugust 16, 2018, 5:05pm
LSaupe. It wouldn't play on my old desk top, but I got to watch it on my wife's laptop.
I don't know what drivers it takes. Maybe someone can chime in here, and educate us?

Very nice... I too am envious of the strip... oh, and just fyi, video play fine on my Ubuntu 18 setup.
Why focus on proving how great you are, when you could focus on becoming better?...

Here's another video shot a week ago 10-12-18 Near Murfreesboro,TN. It was shot by Jay Rivenbark from a DJI Phantom Quad (drone). It's in a mp4 format, so if you have an antique computer it might not run? Comments good or bad are always appreciated. Greg Doe.mp4

Hey Greg;
We are both lucky. I am 76 and still at it. Great stuff Greg. Tell Skip I said hi. he might not remember me. Last time I saw him was at a meet at Tod Lewickie's field (probably spelled the name wrong, but you know who I am talking about). I hear Todd is selling his field.
Bob
Fly safe and have fun.

Bob, We had our MTUG meeting last night, and I brought your name up. Skip remembers you. Also yesterday Harold sold his Mini Max to one of our new members. I helped disassemble it, and trailer it to a home in Lebanon. I flew Wed. Thur. and today. Engine ran rough today, and wouldn't idle when I landed. I have to figure what's going on. Maybe something as simple as a fouled plug? Todd Lawicki was at last Saturdays fly-in in Lebanon. Yes, Todd's place is for sale. He told me that there doesn't seem to be much of a market for a home with a runway. You have got 3 years on me. I've flown 50 hours in the last 3 months, and it's still fun.

Greg, that's a really neat video! It shows some nice landings and fancy footwork on the rudder.

Thanks Dick. I really like the perspective from the DJI Phantom quad!
