before my aviation hiatus

Before I took my self-mandated aviation hiatus, I had begun a personal project of introducing young adults to flying by giving scenic tours of Palouse region in Idaho & Eastern Washington. I don't think I ever got around to posting the two-minute compilation of a few flights that a friend put together.

As part of my dusting off my aviation cobwebs this week, I found the clip. I reminded me how fun introducing flight to others is. I can only imagine how fun it will be this autumn to re-introduce it to myself  .

Why focus on proving how great you are, when you could focus on becoming better?...

Thanks!  Yeah, it was great fun. I gave rides to about 25 folks that summer. I don't think any had been in GA aircraft before, and I know none had been at flight controls. It was so rewarding how virtually every person began with slight (expected) apprehension; and an hour later I couldn't wipe the grins off their face. One of the gentlemen decided he wanted to become a pilot and began flight lessons within a couple months. I had big plans to continue; but life tossed a couple curve balls that contributed to my aviation hiatus. We'll see if I can get back to that point in the next year or so... As fun as the first-timers had, I am pretty sure I enjoyed it even more .

Nice one Redbird!

Is it my imagination, or was the gender ratio of your pax heavily biased in favour of pretty young girls?

Welcome back, BTW.

haha... well, it sorta' was; but believe it or not there is an innocent explanation/story to it... Several of the first-timers were baristas I met at coffee shop drive thru's that I frequented often. I spread the word that any of the employees were welcome to go for a ride as a thank you for the great service they always provided. Thing was, a bunch of the young guys would say they wanted to do it "sometime"; but more of the young women actually followed through and were like "when can we go?". It is kinda' funny though. And, you are not the first to make the observation .

That is my story, and I am sticking to it!
