It looks similar to a Cygnet.

My questionmark is not in relation to the identity of the aeroplane which is a Pottier P 130 Coccinelle,a french homebuilt.
I am just curious as to why such a nice looking all wood 2 seater powered by vw engine did not catch on like the minimax and by the way a cygnet has a steel tube fuselage and tail group. The wing is all wood.

That's a very nice looking aircraft.
In my humble opinion the Minimax is not very pretty to look at. A Tipsy Nipper is positively fugly. Both have their own charms. I wonder, how easy to build, bomb-proof, well supported and friendly to fly is the Coccinelle?

Of course it's good looking - it's French. Such things are very important to them! But in aircraft, as with women, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I like Austers, some say they're ugly. And I like the way my Max looks - form follows function, & at least to me, I think it looks pretty.

Well, since I've never heard of it before, my first guess is the designer didn't do a very good job of marketing it.

For a legal U/L that meets the FAR 103 here in the states, the mini-max is alot better looking than all of the tube and dacron UL's. now if i was to fly in the sport category and had more money then yes there are many better choices.

Potter made quite a range of successful homebuilt and production aircraft but the Jodel was much more popular being fast, strong and long legged.
