Post-flood flight

Finally, after three weeks of rain accumulating close to 12 inches, we had a couple of days of bright, clear, flyable weather. I finished my Annual condition Inspection two weeks ago but rain, wind, and nearby tornadoes kept me ground-bound. Yesterday was beautiful; went flying and I want to share that experience with you.

The photo titles give you a good idea of why the photo was taken, however a few comments are worthwhile. The golf course is just a few miles from my airport and is always a photographic gem. During one flight years ago, by pre-arrangement, I dropped a bag of beer cans, candy bars, and extra balls to golfing friends while they were on a fairway!

The farm belongs to a friend of mine, he calls it the "Honey Dew" farm. He does custom combining & haying. The nearby wheat fields are ripening and the entire countryside is lush from the constant rain, that is except where flooded and those crops unfortunately will rot.

Those persons living near the Arkansas River are in peril, the only place the river is supposed to be, is in the river bed not on the surrounding land. Some houses are flooded out.

Finally, a selfie shows that the temperature in the mid 70's---quite comfortable.

Here is one more photo that didn't make it with the above copy. These residents had to evacuate, previously the water was higher but two days of no rain brought relief.

Here is one more photo that I forgot to put on the post. The wheat fields are about a week away from reaching ripeness.
