I just saw this engine and wondered what your thoughts were.....

only thing other than the name Predator brings up Harbor Freight in my mind that I can think of is weight may be a problem.

Your thoughts?

Without having a weight for it, its impossible to predict usefulness for our application.

Going to need a 2:0 - 2.5 ratio re-drive for it also, and that will add more weight.

It looks as if the site Puff linked to, is a company that does custom engine work.  The Predator 670 shown at the link produces 43 horse for $2,500.  The base model Predator 670 is on Amazon or Harbor Freight for $800 but only kicks out 22 horse.  Get what you pay for?

Here's the real killer: the base model Predator 670 touts it's cast-iron cylinders for resistance to wear.  Nice, but the base model weighs over 100 pounds!  I hope the custom shop did something about that.

the weight can be dropped by replacing the cast iron flywheel with a billet one and get rid of all the tin shrouds that you won't need in an aircraft. 2 yrs ago i tried to adapt a vanguard 23 hp. engine for my max-103 but abandoned it. i even have a brand new re-drive from ace aviation in england.

I think it's interesting that they describe one of its potential uses as being for "small aircraft."
Bad spellers of the world untie!

Homebuilt in argentina successfully used vanguard twin 26hp with 1.5:1 reduction in 60"x26" prop.
If I have a chance to do it again I'll be in this route. Its cheap.
