The brake band pulls off the drum when I squeeze the lever.  What did I do wrong and how do I fix it?  (sorry about the sideways photo, can't figure out how to fix that, either).

Need more picture's Nathan. The cable should be pulling inline with the drum.

Thanks, radfordc.  I'll have to study this a bit.  

One end of the band is secured by a bolt to the brake mount,  the band wraps around the drum so that as the drum turns it tends to tighten the band, the other end of the band connects to the cable so that the cable pulls in a straight line.

I think I'm missing the bracket that holds the cable end, the part that keeps the cable in-line with the band.  When I pull the level, the cable tightens and pulls the band toward the cockpit.

I found the brake drawings from team so maybe these will clear things up. It looks like I will need to attach one picture at a time due to the size and I can't figure out how to make them smaller.

Dick, thanks for the plans.  My installation follows those plans, but the cable still pulls the band off to the side.  I wonder if my cables are too short?

nathan, from what I can see in your picture, you don't seem to have a brake torque arm. The original torque arm design looks like this, and please note the bicycle brake noodle (bent metal tube) I fitted to take the brake cables round from the torque arm to the axle.

However, I thought this was giving a hostage to fortune having the torque arm pointing downwards. In the case of a hard landing it's possible to hit the ground with the torque arm, and as you can see in this next picture, that's exactly what happened to mine.

So now I've redesigned the torque arms on my plane to put them above the axle. Here are some photos of my current brake set up.
