Merry Xmas everybody.

I was wondering if any of the Himax builders have cut out the plywood at the wing root to match the rib pattern or have stuck with the plans and just cut out a small slot to view the fuel tank?

At present I have just the slot cut out but as luck would have it one slot is right where a rib member is.

I like the idea of having the wing root fully open but not sure if there would be any structural issue by removing the ply from the fuselage side of the wing root.

I just had a narrow vertical slot to view fuel level.

Got these screenshots from the drawings for my Air Bike. I think maybe this is an option if you want to build light according to the 103 rules.

Thanks Puff. That's what I've got now but I'm still contemplating cutting out more. I'll have to stop dithering soon though and do something

I'm pretty sure that is for the end plate of the Root Rib for the wing. I'm thinking of cutting the ply that is in the Wing Root area of the cabin. The end plate on the wing is already cut out as per that drawing.

Ah. I didn't read your first post correctly. You are right Mick, it is the end plate of the Root Rib for the wing
