Vmax Test Hop

With the summer heat quickly approaching I decided i was tired of baking in the cockpit so todays project along with finishing up the condition inspection was giving the Vmax windows!

We have Liftoff, tonight was the first time the wheels have been off the ground in a decade and my first foray into the air since october 2019. I made two hops down the runway this evening. I need to tinker wth the carb a bit and make one more before she goes around the patch.

I replaced the oil lines last month  with hydraulic hose and it turns out the hose i used is to stiff to conform to the inside of the cowl so i will either have to cut and modify the cowl to clear the oil lines or source some more flexible high pressure hose that will conform to the cowl contour and replace them.

See below video of the 2nd test hop and pics of my window mod.

When in doubt just use full throttle.... it might not help but it will end the suspense.

looks and sounds awesome!
Why focus on proving how great you are, when you could focus on becoming better?...

Thanks Guys!

Its been a decade since i last flew a max or was active on the board! Its good to be back and flying a max again! I look foward to a sumner of fun flying with Paul and Avenger (also getting back in the saddle). Im sure we will have a few adventures to write about over the summer!

Chris.....aka BlueMax........aka cpd......aka some crazy kid that bought his first max at 18.

Very pleased to see you back here on board Chris. I remember your posts and enthusiasm from a decade or so ago. I've been away awhile myself; but enjoying re-connecting with the board. Will also have access to my aviation & max goodies within next couple weeks, so hope to be able to offer more than lurking to board before long. Looking forward to seeing more of your flying story posts.
