Gday everyone
I thought I'd post a bit of an update on our test flying of Birdog. We currently have 4.5hrs of flight time and she has behaved very nicely so far. She is very nice to fly and after the addition of a fixed Rudder Trim there isn't much control input required to keep straight and level in smooth air although we will fit an adjustable Elevator Trim just for luxury.
Some of the numbers so far:
- Stall seems to be around the 39kts with my ample body in the seat . There isn't much of a break away in the stall more rather a wallowing down.
- 5000 rpm = 55kts IAS, 5500 rpm = 63kts IAS, 6200 rpm (full throttle) = 75kts IAS. During my Speed Calibration runs I averaged 61kts GS vs 63kts IAS
- Fuel consumption on my first little Navex was around 14.5lt/hr. That was at 5500rpm cruise and 1500ft
- EGT seems to stay around 900 DegF. CHT +/- 480 DegF on climb, +/- 390 DegF in cruise
- Throttle at idle descent approx 500ft/min at 50kts
- I try to keep around 50kts on final approach which lets me flare nicely and put it down gently ish...
Let me know if anyone sees any issues with those numbers. I'd be interested to know.
