Mini-Max Strut Fitting Bolt Access System

Greetings all,

I'm almost finished building the first wing for my 1550V V-Max. Some builders have noticed that it's not easy to access the forward strut fitting attach bolt heads. This is somtimes needed because with changing humidity conditions the bolts might become loosened. The only way to get a wrench on the bolt heads is from the wing root with a socket or wrench attached to a long stick---and only if you had built lightening holes in the end rib. The corresponding nuts are accessible via a standard inspection plate built into the fabric on the rear side of the front spar.

I designed and built an access through the leading edge ply to address this problem, and I incorporated it into my recent wing build. The system works very well. It's based on the spec AC 43.13-1B method for repairing damage to plywood by using a "plug patch". I adapted the method to put a cover plate on the access hole.

Attached is the document with photos describing my method and how to build it.

I'd be interested to see what you did but there were no photos included with your post.

Thanks

Thanks, but it came up that I needed Google drive. I've never used it. Is it anything like photobucket used to be? I'm not crazy about opening my computer up to more data mining than it probably already is. I'll admit I'm getting more grumpy as the years pass.

Lynn,

I know what you mean---I'm getting the same way with damn technology.   I was able to email the pdf file to my wife's computer as a test, and that worked ok (it's not too large).  If you feel comfortable, disguise your email on this thread so bots can't pick it up, and I'll email it to you.  Another way is to private message me on Facebook (David.B.Woodside) and I think I can attach it that way maybe.

Or send me an email to wiseacredave  "at" gmail and I'll reply with the file----if that makes sense.

BTW, Google Drive is just one of the cloud storage methods.  I never realized one had to have a google drive account to receive file that way, though.  I just thought it "worked".

Does anyone else on this thread know how I can easily send a 3 MB file?

Update:  I just figured out how to send an email to one of the members.  Simply click on the member's profile name and there's a button to send an email.

David, When you upload a file to your Google drive, by default,
others will NOT be able to view the file, as your Google drive files
can be accessed only by you.

To share, first access your Google drive by logging into your Google
account, then select the file  you would like to share, select sharing option ,
and select “share with anyone with a link “.

After you do the above, any user on the web can view that file through
a browser by using that link, even by those  who have no gmail account.

Yes, to upload you need a gmail account, but to download  and view
shared files, you  do NOT need a gmail account.

These steps above can also be done through Google drive app if you have the
App installed on your device, but you do not really need the app. All of the above
steps can be done without using an app, by simply using any browser.

But of course working with Google drive is easier with Chrome browser,
but any browser should be OK to upload or download or view the file.

Thanks Keith,  I updated the file access on Google Drive as you suggested, and you can also post it here.

Thanks

Dave
