I was at Sun n Fun. Did not see any Max's. I walked over to the homebuilt section Saturday morning and overall it seemed a bit slim. This was second to last day though.

I was not at sun-n-fun, but I am still on the forum.

Quoted from flydog I was not at sun-n-fun, but I am still on the forum.

Well, at least that's 4 of us. I was beginning to wonder if everybody left but left the lights on.

I still check the forum regularly.  It has been very helpful during my build, thanks to all that have contributed, I like it much better than the FB groups.
I read somewhere when I started building that only 1 in 10 of those that embark in this kind of project end up finishing and flying their aeroplane.  I remember that it worried me a bit, but also gave me an extra incentive.  It starts to look like I might end up in the 10% after all ...

I am still here! It's sure not what it used to be though, the glory days of the early 2000s with new builders showing up every month and flying stories being posted almost daily. Airbike Ace and I are still patrolling the kansas skies and keeping them free of huns!

Chris

PS. Thanks Alan for keeping this board alive, there is a massive wealth of information still here for new builders and owners, and trips down memory lane.
When in doubt just use full throttle.... it might not help but it will end the suspense.

gangeli......not only are you on the verge of being in the 10%, but you've built a fine looking MiniMAX!! Keep us informed about the project as you make the final push to the finish.

I agree completely that ETLB is a wonderful resource. Things get lost on Facebook and as far as I know there's no search feature to look for answers to questions that have probably been previously covered.

I still look in occasionally. For a long time I could only access the board as a guest. For some reason it wouldn't log me in.

But it let me in today - hooray!

Gangeli's plane looks beautifully built. Hope to hear of his first flight soon. Or even better, film it, as he's very close to me.

I hope this forum survives. It's a great resource for builders.

Is TEAM still for sale? Are they taking orders?

Thank-you beragoobruce for the encouragement, the inspiration and all your help along the way.  I'm currently making final adjustment to be within W & B specs, I've ended up slightly tail heavy.  Besides moving the engine farward 3" I have shamelessly copied your tailwheel spring in order to save weight at the tail end, together with replacing the wheel itself.

I started my Max in 1996 and completed about 75% of it in the first year of construction - then I started riding dirt bikes again after a 3 year layoff due to injuries and didn't touch the Max again until last year.  I have started working on it again but honestly, I spend most of my time riding dirt bikes (my lifelong passion).  I have also started a project to convert a Briggs and Stratton 993cc V-twin for aircraft use and that is proving to be challenging due to my lack of machinest skills.  I check in here pretty often and use the site as a reference.  BTW, the Facebook entries are pretty worthless if you are trying to find something specific.

I'm very glad to be of help,  Giacomo.  Your build quality is very high, and it's great to see another - beautifully built - Max nearing completion.
I'm very much looking forward to your first flight. As I'm sure are you are!

Great job on the tailspring, by the way. Out of interest, my Max flew at full rear c.g. position from day one. I tested it in stalls, and regularly did landing approaches with very steep slips.
Even a few with fully deflected crossed rudder & aileron. So I don't think you need to worry too much if you can't make the last percentage point getting your W&B spot on.
I realise that's sacrilege to say, but I'm guessing there's a fair bit of safety factor in the figure you're aiming at.

I hope this lovely late autumn weather we're having holds for your first flight.
